Arrivals & Dismissals

Arrival

School begins at 8:55am on regular days and 10:55am on delayed opening days.

Students should be arriving at school between 8:40 and 8:55am. Prior to 8:40am, no staff members are available to supervise the children so it is vital that they do not arrive before then.

In the case of a delayed opening due to inclement weather or other emergency, students should be arriving at school between 10:40 and 10:55am.  Parents will be notified of the delayed opening via School Messenger.

As always, protecting our student's safety is a primary goal here at Eastlake. Please adhere to the parking lot procedures (PDF) when dropping your child off each morning.

Students are expected to arrive at Eastlake on-time and ready to start their day (the bell rings at 8:55am). Students who arrive late sometimes miss classroom instructions which can jeopardize their own learning, and interrupts the learning of the entire class. Consider bringing your child to school for 8:40 so they can line up, have time to socialize with their friends, and are ready for a great day of learning.

Dismissal

Students are dismissed at 3:25 PM on Full days and 1:00 PM on One Session/Early Dismissal Days. In the case of an unscheduled early dismissal due to inclement weather or other emergency, parents will be notified of the time of dismissal via School Messenger.

Bus students will assemble in their respective bus lines in the All Purpose Room and will be escorted by a teacher to their bus upon its arrival.

Walkers in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd grades will be dismissed from the back door of the primary wing. Kindergarten students only will be individually released by the teacher and/or aide directly to a parent or parent designee (as set forth in writing by the parent), who may then escort the child home either on foot or by car.

Walkers in grades 4 and 5 will be dismissed from the back doors of the intermediate wing and will be released by their teachers as a group to either walk home on their own or wait for a parent or designee.

Students who have been authorized to walk home unescorted, will be instructed to walk home directly.

Students who have not been authorized to walk home unescorted will be instructed to wait for their parents (or designee) on the sidewalk near the flagpole at the front of the school. Staff members will supervise students. Please do not enter the building to meet your child.

If you plan to escort your child home by car, please adhere to the parking lot procedures (PDF).
