Guidance Counselors are here to help children with any academic, social or emotional issues that affect their lives in school. It is a Guidance Counselor's job to be friends will all members of a school community. Although, elementary school children are far from starting a career, Guidance Counselors help to create awareness of the world of work and how students' lives in school relate to their future career opportunities
The Elementary School Guidance Program serves the needs of all students by teaching guidance lessons, providing individual and group guidance counseling, and consulting with parents, teachers, and administrators. A primary goal of this program is to enhance the positive self-concept of every child. When children are capable of communicating in a positive manner, they can more effectively make decisions and solve problems. They are more responsible and therefore, feel more competent. Children who feel good about themselves perform better academically.
The program is truly a team effort whereby parents, administrators, teachers, and counselors work together for the success of the children.
